Picture this: Small and cozy dining room, an ever changing pre fixe menu, plate after gorgeous plate of exciting new dishes & flavors specially curated by Chef Diana and her life partner Jen focusing on traditional Indonesian food & ingredients, music, BYO establishment and if you're up for some learning we'll be happy to educate! A tradition deeply rooted in the rich cultural heritage of Java, Indonesia and inspired by the ethnic Arab dining style of communal eating, Liwetan is a feast of rice, fresh vegetables and an array of different dishes is spread out on top of banana leaves while friends & family gather around to eat together. This style of eating dates back over a century with origins from royal ceremonies and spread throughout Indonesia with variations throughout different regions to match local flavors and customs.

Here at Rice & Sambal we serve it on a bamboo basket lined with banana leaf. You can also try to eat with your hands for the full indonesian experience, which is, in our opinion, the best way to eat. It enriches our sensory experience, mindfulness, cultural awareness and connects you more to your food.  Just make sure you wash your hands first !

Additional info::

– $100 per person liwetan only available on Saturdays. There will be no a la carte option and only the Liwetan menu will be available.

-Each Basket will be for two people, so make sure you both want the same options unless you’re ok mixing protein and veggie.

– Beverages are not included. Gratuity not included. Please dont forget to tip your server.

Indonesian food is super popular in Australia, Holland and the surrounding countries in South East Asia. Its just America is late to the party and we are here to bring it!
